Best Weapons in V Rising

There are seven different categories of weapons that can be yours in V Rising, and we have arranged them in accordance with how well they fare when going up against other players in PvP. This is because AI enemies are generally easier to handle, and you can take your pick of weapon to end them. Here’s the list from the best to the not so good for PvP:

1. Slashers

When it comes to dealing out swift damage, there is nothing that can beat the Slashers. Not only are you looking at dealing rapid blows to your foes, but the weapon also causes status effects that can aid your cause through different skills. Up against a fast-moving foe, you want to nail them down for sustained damage, and that is where the Elusive Strike skill comes into play. It causes enemies to be slowed down while dealing damage, allowing you to continue your barrage of attacks with impunity. If you prefer to sneak up on an enemy or want to reset the fight, using the Camouflage skill will turn you invisible for a while, and enhances your first strike to incapacitate your opponent. Again, this reduces the chances PvP opponents can escape your clutches while giving you the upper hand.

2. Swords

The old dependable Sword is the first weapon you will come upon in the game, and as such, it is expected that it is always going to be good in most situations. There is enough power, speed, and utility no matter how you look at it. For sustained damage while keeping the pressure up, the Sword’s Whirlwind skill is excellent for dancing around your opponent while striking at them. If you are at a distance, you can utilize the Shockwave skill instead, which sends an attack towards your opponent that sends them into the sky when hit. Recast the skill and you will instantly teleport to your victim for a solid combo. It is clear that unless you have a good alternative like the Slashers, keeping a trusty Sword by your side makes the most sense.

3. Spear

If you are looking for a good damage dealer that also gives you a bit of distance from other players, look no further than the Spear. Best used when going up against a single foe, the stabbing attacks provided by the Spear has a good mix of speed and power. Should your opponent find themselves cornered, use A Thousand Spears to overwhelm them and knock them over for an advantage. If you are looking to keep them close, the Harpoon skill lets you do just that, dealing ranged damage before pulling them in for a nasty surprise. Maintaining the right distance will always give those using Spears an advantage, and once you master that, you will be a dangerous vampire.

4. Axes

For those that like a little more raw power as compared to the Sword, the Axes will fit the bill nicely. Sure, you can use them to effectively cut down trees, but they will do just the same for other vampires trying to muscle in on your territory, as long as you are able to land a hit. When facing opponents that want to get up in your undead face, use the Frenzy skill to hit them hard while giving yourself a boost in both movement and attack speed. Once they are on the ropes, use X-Strike to hurt them from a distance while slowing or incapacitating them, opening up a chance for you to end their lives.

5. Mace

Of course, for the most power for the least speed, nothing in V Rising’s list of weapons will beat the Mace. Meant to bludgeon everything in sight, this weapon is perfectly suited to deal with slow enemies, not those that move at speed. If you miss an attack, it is likely you will get punished. Nevertheless, the skills of the Mace offer some options when coming up against others. An opening salvo using Crushing Blow gives you a powerful AoE attack that can ensnare enemies while using Smack can send those foes flying and create distance that you can use to heal, regroup, or attack again.

6. Reaper

The undead and the scythe often go hand in hand, although the Reaper might not be the best choice for vampires in V Rising. It looks cool, but its slow nature makes it difficult to be effective against other players. Should you choose this weapon to use in a fight, be sure to use Tendon Swing as much as possible. This is a skill that unleashes a big strike that does high damage, while also trapping players. For a ranged option, the Howling Reaper will throw out a spinning scythe that stays in place and deals damage to anything that is within its range. Players can easily avoid that, but AI monsters might not, so you already know the pros and cons.

7. Crossbow

Lastly, we have the Crossbow, a dependable weapon if your targets choose to remain stationary or are unaware of your presence. Having a ranged weapon is always a good option, but it should remain as a backup due to the fact that it does far lesser damage and takes too long to wind up a shot. The Rain of Bolts skill is an AoE attack that blankets an area with bolts but is more flashy than useful, while the Snapshot skill fires off a quick shot if you are looking to interrupt someone. Combining the Snapshot skill with your other weapons will make it more useful, but mastering the switching can be hard.

How to Get These Weapons in V Rising

You will start off the game with the basic level of some weapons, and as you progress, you will need to craft better weapons and gear to ensure your level is high enough to take on tougher foes. You will start with the Bone variety, followed by Copper and Iron variants to follow. Recipes will be your best way of getting advanced weapons, which in turn unlocks more skills to be used in combat. These are usually obtained from beating specific V Blood Bosses that can be tracked at the Blood Altar, a rare drop from slain foes, or by using Paper at the Research Table. There are also Merciless versions of weapons that be crafted from the base weapons. You will need to ensure you have the right materials as well as the facilities to craft weapons, such as a Workbench or Smithy. Following the game’s natural progression will open up the way, but you will definitely need to farm materials to give yourself a full set. There you have it, everything you need to know about the best weapons in V Rising and how to get them. For everything else, be sure to search Twinfinite for other tips and information on the game.
