Who Is The Prince that Was Promised in House of the Dragon?
To cut straight to the chase, the most likely candidate for The Prince that Was Promised is Daenerys Targaryen, who plays a key role in the events of Game of Thrones. At the end of episode four of House of the Dragon, Viserys speaks briefly about the prophecy to Rhaenyra, though it doesn’t seem to be of great import in this series. The origin of the prophecy isn’t known, but from what we know of the books and Game of Thrones, the Prince that Was Promised would be “born of salt and smoke”, and that “his is the song of ice and fire”. Daenerys had also, quite literally, risen from the ashes at the end of Game of Thrones season 1, and the birth of the dragons proved that she was the prophesied savior of Westeros. She eventually links up with Jon Snow and uses her dragons to take out the White Walkers to save the world from darkness, though she ends up getting a little power-crazy at the end of the series and is killed by Jon.
